So how to avoid that? Let us show you some simple tips and the safest way when handling this risky removable drive.

1. For the first step, when you inserted the removable drive, NEVER open it with removable drive popup option like figure below, just click cancel.

2. Before proceed to the next step, you need to enable first the show hidden file and system option file that located in folder option setting, because most of the virus or unwanted thread like to hide themselves as a hidden file system. To enable this, open the folder option in My Computer. On the View tab, Tick on the Show hidden files and folders and Untick hide protected operating system files (Recommended) as shown in the red circle below.

3. Then you will see all the hidden files including system files and this will make you easy to detect any virus files. Most of the virus execute themselves using the Autorun.inf file that located in same root folder in your removable drive. Next, you can open any removable drive using the Explore mode in My Computer by clicking the Folders tab and you can access the removable drive via the explorer tree (red rectangle) on the left sidebar. Accessing via this tree can avoid the virus execution because at this state, the command in Autorun.inf file cannot be execute.

4. Finally, you can delete the suspicious file in that removable drive that you not recognize. Here, we will give you some guide which file that is suspicious and safe to delete, but make sure this file is hidden type (blurry icon) :

To know if the file is application type, just right click on the file and choose properties. Eg: New Folder.exe

The Autorun.inf is the most popular file that used in virus separator for this type of file. So, when you see this hidden file, you must delete it.
