This your last resort, you can repair your Windows XP with Windows Recovery Console. We will show you how to repair your windows XP using this recovery console.

 

What is Windows Recovery Console? Develop by Microsoft, this powerful tools will fix your Windows in any condition with simple command prompt interface and no mouse functionality. This tools is aimed at more experienced users and not design for beginners because it is using a few commands to operate. But we will teach you the commands and instruction how to use it.

First, what you need is windows XP cd and a critical Windows XP to be repaired. Then, enter your BIOS and set CD-Rom as first bootable device. Next, restart your PC and insert the windows XP cd.

After entering the BIOS, your PC will find any bootable device, you must boot into your Windows XP by press any key of your keyboard.

This setup will inspect your hardware to install necessary driver from the Windows XP CD.

After inspecting your hardware, Setup will loading and copy the driver needed to your hard drive.

To enter Windows Recovery Console and repair your windows, press R

Type '1' to log onto your current windows folder in drive C: then press enter. If your administrator have password just type it otherwise press enter

Starting to check physical hard drive problems and fix file system errors, we using chkdsk command.

In the prompt line C:\WINDOWS>

Type this command : chkdsk /r

And press ENTER and recovery console will check your hard disk.

Wait until the process finished (prompt back to C:\WINDOWS> again ). Restart your PC and go back to Recovery Console again and do the next step:

Next step is repairing Master Boot Record by using command fixmbr

In the prompt line C:\WINDOWS>

Type this command : fixmbr

Type Y and press ENTER and recovery console will fix your master boot record by writen a new MBR.

Wait until the process finished (prompt back to C:\WINDOWS> again ). Restart your PC and go back to Recovery Console again and do the next step:

Next step is to write a new partition boot sector by using command fixboot

In the prompt line C:\WINDOWS>

Type this command : fixboot

Type Y and press ENTER and recovery console will write a new partition boot sector

Wait until the process finished (prompt back to C:\WINDOWS> again ). Restart your PC and go back to Recovery Console again and do the next step:

Next step is to rebuilt boot.ini files by using command bootcfg /rebuild

In the prompt line C:\WINDOWS>

Type this command : fixboot

Now press Enter and allow it to scan for Windows Installations.

Add installation to boot list? (Yes/No/All): Type: y and then press Enter.

Enter Load Identifier: Type: You can type anything you want that identifies this installation of Windows

Enter OS Load Options: Type: /fastdetect and then press Enter.

This will then rebuild the boot configuration.

If you need to use the Recovery Console you will always have to boot from the Windows XP CD. However it is possible to install the Recovery Console so that you can select to enter the Recovery Console when you first start your computer. To do this first insert your Window XP CD in the CD/DVD-ROM drive.

Click, Start and then choose Run.

Type: x:\i386\winnt32.exe /cmdcons

[Where is x is the letter of your CD/DVD-ROM drive]

Press
Enter and this should start the install of the Recovery Console.

When the installation has completed, restart your computer. You should now be given the option to start the Recovery Console or to start Windows.

I did all the steps. but no result found.
After "Enter OS Load options" nothing was happened. I don't know what can I do now???
